Welcome from the
City Manager’s Office
Hello, I am Scott Erickson, the
Ironwood City Manager. I am delighted that you have
chosen to visit us via the internet and encourage you to
participate in our numerous community activities. I was
appointed City Manager of Ironwood in January 2006. My
family and I are pleased to be in the area and look
forward to enjoying all of the amenities that the area
has to offer, such as: skiing, biking, hiking, fishing,
hunting, golfing, lake superior beaches, friendly
neighbors and a great place to raise our children.
Under a Commission/Manager form of
government, the City Manager serves at the discretion of
the City Commission. The City Manager is similar to the
general manager in a business corporation and is
responsible for the overall management and
administration of the day-to-day operations of the
City. The City Manager provides professional leadership
and direction in the administration of the policies and
objectives established by the City Commission.
The Manager, through staff,
presents alternatives and pragmatic ideas, innovations,
and solutions to the City Commission for consideration.
The Manager and staff keep the City Commission informed
of the activities of all departments by providing weekly
and annual reports.
Via the internet, we present you
with the opportunity to access information about the
City of Ironwood. I hope this will be one more way of
bringing government closer to you.
